We had a bright crispy start to the day and schooled Cora Sundrop, The Last of Them, Sanpdragon Fire, Colt Lightning, Luck of the Legion, Sir Egbert, Silk Run and Sword of Fate over some hurdles. Kimberlite Candy and a heap of 3 year olds schooled over fences on the grass. Those that didn’t school, not many of them, went for routine canters. Alan Johns and Ciaran Gethings were in to help.

The afternoon was spent at the races in Hereford with a good lunch. The day didn’t get much warmer given the apparent break down of the heating system in the boxes and bars below us. A small fan heater did little to warm us up. The heating did come back on after the 4th race and we were able to take off our coats, scarfs and hats just before we left for home. Thankfully, we had Richard Johnson mark our card and some light entertainment to warm us.

Tomorrow, Luck of the Legion starts over hurdles, her schooling has been good yet she desperately needs the penny to drop as far as racing goes. Thistle do Nicely also heads to Towcester for the 3-year-old bumper which looks a hot contest on paper, the horses with form don’t set the world alight but plenty of unraced ones could turn out to be anything. If they have the ability to match their pedigrees Thistle will need his A game. Snapdragon Fire goes south to Taunton for his 2nd run over hurdles. He wanted to go right at Southwell, left at Market Rasen and pulled too hard at Exeter.
