A great day, the gamble of running Sword of Fate back quickly paid off, he made light work of beating a modest field but put the race to bed in a likeable fashion between the 3rd and 2nd last hurdles. We will see where we are with him before making any other plans.   Triopas ran his best race yet finishing 3rd, we will consider sending him over fences in the hope he just has a little more t...

Tragic events unfolded at Kempton over the weekend, I am not risk adverse, in fact,  I’m never afraid to take calculated risks. However, I do fine it strange that we don’t wear helmets around horses more often. I tend to wear a helmet if I’m twitching a horse, yet I wouldn’t bother if I was cleaning a wound on a hind leg. I was leading a horse home along the road at th...

Flashing Glance ran a cracking race finishing 3rd at Chepstow this afternoon, had he not of missed the 2nd last hurdle he may have been 2nd. He was making up the ground it cost him towards the end of the race but there is no room for error at that stage of any race. He has come a very long way since Bangor. Today, he settled and jumped better than he’s ever jumped before on a racetrac...

Silk Run ran a great race to finish 3rd beaten only a neck for 2nd, she just ran out of a bit of room at the false rail otherwise may well have nabbed 2nd. We will see where we are with her in 3 weeks before making a decision whether to send her over hurdles or have another go in a bumper.   Sword of Fate’s race fell apart as did many others on todays card at Worcester, we decided t...

Cora Sundrop ran a nice race on debut, she was too far back from the start and possibly did too much getting into the race, the winner and 3rd horse were right up on the pace from flag fall and it paid off for them. The 2nd horse isn’t too shabby, all bar one of the 4 horses in front of her had the benefit of previous racecourse experience. The 4th horse was clearly held in high regard giv...

The horses have had a busy enough week, most of them had a quiet day and were given 1 or 2 canters up the hill, the thicker winded horses did some hard yards on the sand but generally had an easy time of it.   There has been a real shift in the quality of horses being entered this last week, the big guns will be blazing from here on in and winning a novice for the next couple of months won&...
