We aren’t alone and woke yesterday to 6- 7 inches of snow, by the time it had finished falling we’ve ended up with near on 12 inches. I spent a good few hours on the tractor clearing it to ease the task on Monday morning. Some lads and lasses are stranded but thankfully, some of them made it in by car or by foot today. You don’t need tractors when you have 3 Romanian men. Last ni...

It is not often we are happy with a horse pulling up, The Last of Them is a big raw baby who has been nursed through the first 5 years of his life and owned by a very patient man. He travelled and jumped beautifully for 2 miles and today was all about giving him a nice introduction to hurdles. We would have never have forgiven ourselves had he ended up on the floor. Tommie, rightly, obey the own...

A light covering of snow stopped us schooling on the grass this morning. Polydora and The Last of Them jumped 8 hurdles on the all weather schooling strip. The sad news of Peter Walwyn dying rightly dominates the Racing news today. I was very fortunate to have met Big Pete, firstly, as the starter of the Heythrop p2p and then in a more social environment becoming friends with his daughter Kate....

Our latest BT order has been cancelled again as we already have fibre to premises. I despair.   We have been slow to work out Triopas and may still have been struggling without the help of Richard Johnson. Richard rode him at Worcester and said he’d get ever yard of 3 miles and would handle soft ground. Since we’ve upped him to 3 miles on soft ground he has won 2 and been 3rd on...

Apologizes for no blogs over the last day or two. The BT saga continues, as you will recall we had fibre optic installed and had it up and running. Due to the numerous cancelled orders the line installed didn’t relate to an order number so it has been taken down by BT who are now so confused they can’t sort it out. We have a new order number and hope the line can be fixed and coordinat...

Thistle do Nicely has come out of his race in great shape.   A very busy, successful and tiring few days. It was an early start for us all yesterday taking 8 horses for an away day before heading to Larkhill. Sophie and Tommie couldn’t have got off to a better start to the season with Coningsby who won the 2nd division of the maiden. He is by Midnight Legend and owned by Lady Cobham. ...

Thistle do Nicely won nicely yesterday at Towcester, many bumpers are muddling and yesterdays was no different. The splits came when needed and the horse and jockey helped each other. I thought, given the roughness of the race it was a very impressive performance. He galloped through the line, will get further and jumps hurdles like a gazelle. Congratulations to Tommie who has now dropped to cla...

We had a bright crispy start to the day and schooled Cora Sundrop, The Last of Them, Sanpdragon Fire, Colt Lightning, Luck of the Legion, Sir Egbert, Silk Run and Sword of Fate over some hurdles. Kimberlite Candy and a heap of 3 year olds schooled over fences on the grass. Those that didn’t school, not many of them, went for routine canters. Alan Johns and Ciaran Gethings were in to help. ...

Thomas Patrick thinks he’s very special, he may head back to Exeter on the 8th December or carry a penalty at Haydock in a boys race on the 6th.   Many of the young horses are now stepping up their work load and will soon be considered to be in full training mode working twice a week. The more forward ones did a couple of swinging canters up the hill having cantered around the sand....

Polydora and Jester Jet have come out of their runs at Ascot on Saturday in fine shape.   Thomas Patrick lead them all a merry dance under a great rdie from Tommie yesterday at Exeter and wasn’t for passing. He has given David Kellett a fabulous introduction to racing being the first horse he's owned in training, David was naturally over the moon and called by this afternoon to s...
