Wetherby was not a success. Thankfully, JohnBB is fine after his fall, Pounding Poet ran with credit and I should have bought Highstakesplayer home without running. 

Monday morning canters for the horses, Dorking Boy, Scipion and Algesiras jumped some fences. Lamanver Storm increased the goal difference with Stan, we are unsure if it is now 4 or 5 nil. 

The snow stayed away from us this morning but we seemed to be surrounded by it and a good effort was made by those who were coming any distance as they all got here with some sufferance. 

Reading that Seven Barrows will be having a quiet time does mortals like me the world of good, Nicky Henderson thinks some of his string are off colour and it is easy to blame oneself for everything that doesn’t go as smoothly as one wants it to. Nothing is plain sailing in the job no matter how long you’ve been at it and it will tame lions.
