What a few days I have had in the car, Wetherby on Wednesday, back to Malton (North Yorkshire) Thursday afternoon then on to Doncaster and home on Friday. Last night we were caught up in the spillage of car windscreens on the M1 which didn’t help the humour.

Neal Griffiths and Heather Haddock were here this morning to see their horses in the yard. Singlefarmpayment will head to Southwell on Tuesday.

Most of the horses had canters on the woodchip this morning, Sugar Loaf Sholto went for away day locally and Very Intense held his hand.

Chase End Charlie is a little race sore this morning, he is a brute of a horse with larger muscles than most so it is no surprise; he’ll have an easy few days. We will then regroup with a novice hurdle being the next target.

Pinnacle Panda runs over hurdles for the first time at Leicester tomorrow, jumping shouldn’t be an issue as he’s won a point to point and done plenty of schooling in the meantime.

Lamanver Alchemy has come out of Wetherby in great shape and was certainly happy to be back cantering this morning having had a ride around the fields yesterday.

Smad Place ran his competitors ragged in The Hennessy Gold Cup today at Newbury. He came to be loose schooled on one occasion when we were in the Cotswolds, he was so good on that occasion I said I couldn’t improve him and he didn’t return. He certainly showed his rivals a clean pair of heels today. I enjoyed Wayne Hutchinson’s comment to Emma Spence that she was knit picking.......................
