The drying ground and 3 runs in 9 weeks for Mary Eleanor was a bridge too far, she didn’t disgrace herself by any means and `I’m very proud of what she has achieved in a relatively short period of time. Any other day she’d have won her bumper at Huntingdon first time of asking. Being beaten a head and a short head in a bumper is pretty rare circumstances. She will now have a week to come out the other side of her run today before heading off for a well earned break and some delicious grass.

Midnight Monty has come out of Newbury fine, his owners are not quitters and want to explore further, he will be paying a visit to Ben Brain on Friday.

Tomorrow Black Bow will go to Maisemore Park for the short maiden. If your thinking of something to do on Mothers’ day there are many worse places to spend the day than at Maisemore. They organizers have made a real fist of it this year, rebranding the day as Gloucester Races. There will be 45+ trade stands, numerous food stalls and a very decent beer tent, without forgetting some decent racing on one of the best viewing tracks in the country. The sun is due to shine and it will be a fabulous day. Please come along and support the hard work that has gone into organizing the day and the sponsors for getting behind it.
