This morning got off to a bad start when Alice got kicked and has ended up in hospital with a broken leg. Never a good time for such a thing to happen and only made worse by the fact it is Christmas. Others enjoy Christmas even if I don’t.
Hazzaar just started to over race as soon as he turned down the hill away from the stands, Aidan said every time he got cover it disappeared and he was always just doing too much. He’s a horse who picks up the bridle at home but I wouldn’t describe him as a puller. I was surprised and disappointed that he didn’t settle better. Turning in he was still travelling like the winner but the writing was on the wall. He will have plenty of other days as he’s a very good horse who is just going to have to learn to race and settle.
All hands on deck tomorrow as we send horses to three meetings. Kimberlite Candy and Meep Meep go to Haydock, Lossiemouth to Newcastle and Thomas Patrick will need a wash before Ascot.
