On Wednesday evening I was swapping fences for show jumps in the ménage and last night we were driving back from Carlisle hence the lack of daily blogs.

Wednesday we schooled many horse over hurdles on the schooling strip and all the 3 year olds jumped fences in the ménage. Robert and Margaret Robinson from Distillery stud were here on a social visit and enjoyed seeing a few horses we have bought off them at the store sales and Singlefarmpayments half sister who is here in training. She is only ticking over and won’t be rushed to the track.

Colt Lightning had a nice introduction to racing under rules, he will have learnt a lot yesterday. He is by no means the finished article, being by Flemensfirth, in my experience they all need time and he is no exception. Mary Eleanor bumped into one again at Carlisle yesterday. I feel sorry for her rather than anyone else - she tries her heart out. After 4 efforts she deserved to win a bumper. She was 2nd in two and a finished 3rd in another. No one expects to be beaten a short head and a head in a bumper as she was on her debut. She will be given plenty of time before heading over hurdles. Both horses seen fine this morning.

This morning Kimberlite Candy and Vado Forte schooled over fences, I dusted my boots off and steered Vado Forte. Kimberlite Candy runs at Ffos Las tomorrow, he has to start somewhere, the ground and track are ideal but he will have to take his A game to beat the opposition.
