Typical Monday morning canters for the horses. Thomas Patrick and Rosmuc Relay went autumn hunting.
Panda did a little bit of filming on Saturday morning.
Glory and Fortune is in good shape having won the Welsh Champion hurdle on Saturday. It was lovely to have Jerry and Sarah there on such a successful day. We will now think about an entry for Glory and Fortune in the Greatwood hurdle. If the English Irish handicap system is to be considered more carefully, tomorrows rise for Glory and Fortune will be interesting. At this moment in time, he surely deserves to be on the handicappers list of potential festival horses.
Frankie thinks that he has some form of entitlement, Dylan Brown rightly disagrees and did nothing wrong from what I could see of it. On Saturday, John Gosden was not over pleased with Frankie either. I took a huge dislike to Frankie many years ago when he dismounted for our horse and rubbed grass into the rubber reins claiming that the lads had saddled soaped them. He is not always the lovely, fun-loving, Italian jockey he wants everyone to believe he is. If he’s any sort of the man he wants us to believe he is he should make a public apology to Dylan Brown and while he’s at it Hollie Doyle, as he blamed her the weekend before having failed to ride his horse without finding trouble in running.
I do not support bullying in any environment. Bullying may not be the best word to use in any sporting environment. Sport is emotive and sports people clash on and off the field of play. Many have commented favourably to the fact that horse racing allows men and women to compete on level terms. If this is the case, I am afraid the sex of those arguing over an incident on the field of play should not be a contributing factor to those being punished for misconduct. The weighing room can be a volatile environment, a lot of handbags are thrown within those walls. Sadly, for the sport and those involved in the latest publicized incident they have failed to sort it out within the walls of the weighing room. Those who run to the headmaster were always given a wide birth thereafter.
