Typical Monday morning canters for the horses, Mrs Newell dropped off her 3-year-old filly by Sulamani who we broke-in and pe-tained for a period of time last season, we will be aiming at the 3-year-old fillies bumper at Warwick in December. She is a precocious type who we liked a lot last time around.

Vado Forte didn’t cover himself in glory and in fact covered me in humiliation. He would school beautifully, all day long at home. He went away and jumped 12 hurdles a couple of weeks ago in the style of a Triumph hurdle horse. He is the most frustrating horse with bags of ability. Horses have to take their home work to the racecourse and on both occasions he has failed to do so. The only consultation is he is owned by people who have seen it all before and understand you can not account for the unaccountable. Based on what we have seen at home and away from home we expected his jumping to be one of his strengths and stand him in good stead in his races. A good dusting down and some re-grouping is in order.
