Gold Clermont, L’Incorrigible, Hazzaar, Outlaw Jesse James, Unohu, Pounding Poet and Velasco all schooled over hurdles. The other horses had routine canters around the sand and up the hill. Many horses have plenty of racing under their belts now and I would not be mad keen on working them too hard at this time of year. They are fit and just need to maintain that fitness. I’m convinced too many races are left on the gallops.
I paid another visit to the Turkish barber this afternoon, I refused all wax and just settled for the flame passing beside my ears. I thought I chance a wet shave and was shocked to find an electric razor buzzing around my face at great speed being firmly pressed into my skin and over my ears. Reportedly, one day’s growth isn’t enough of a beard for a wet shave. Having had the electric treatment, he gave me a token wet shave similar to what I used to do myself with my father’s razor aged about twelve. Anyhow, he told me I looked fresh, I told him looks can be deceiving.
