Apologies for no blog on Saturday night but I was late finishing having given myself a rare day off after 1st lot to shoot in the Cotswolds. Surprisingly, I hit a few and had Sholto chirping in my ear how useless I was when missing, he did have the good grace to compliment me when I shoot a high one. One being the operative word.

Had I had made time to write my blog, I may have told you to back Russian Service at 66-1. It was lovely to get our first winner on the board for 2017 and to keep the ball rolling on what so far has been a very good season. It took us 8 days longer than in 2016. After yesterday’s win I think a £1 level stake on our horses would be returning over £70.00.

We've all enjoyed a lovely weekend. Given the unpredictability of the weather forecast this week we got plenty out on Sunday morning and took eight 4 year olds away for a piece of work on some grass this morning. I couldn’t have been more pleased with them and we will look to make entries for some at the end of the month.

I have agreed to sponsor a maiden race at Larkhill next year which will allow 4 years olds to compete.

We have a good few entries this week and over the weekend so I will keep you posted on running plans as the week goes on.
