A fantastic result in the Grand National in that all 40 horses and jockeys returned safely. The race is plagued by welfare activists, what Aintree have done to improve facilities is highly commendable. It did seem such a shame that the horses were not lead back into the winner’s enclosure. In this day and age welfare takes priority and that has to be a good thing. I haven’t heard of the loss of one horse over the 3 days.

Super Sid is in at Ffos Las tomorrow, I will leave to walk the course before the lorry sets off as we’ve had another drying day in blazing sunshine. If my memory serves me right, we experienced a similar pattern of weather last year. Then the heavens opened in May, by which time, many horses had been turned away only to find themselves out in filthy wet and cold weather.
