David John and Snapdragon Fire have come out of their runs at Southwell yesterday in good shape, both ate their supper and trotted up sound this morning.  We can now look forward to their next runs.

Sword of Fate, Equus Amadeus, Thomas Patrick all worked this morning, others had routine canters around the sand and up the hill, the 3 year olds all had quiet canters around the sand and jumped a fence in the ménage. Kates Son, Silk Run, Colt Lightning, unnamed 3-year-old by Arcadio and Flashing Glance all had quiet canters and jumped some hurdles in the ménage.

I had another 3 loads of sand delivered and spent the afternoon ferrying it and harrowing it around the sand gallop in the tractor, I also placed some at the bottom of the woodchip. No matter how hard you try to stop them, the odd horse is too eager to get on with its work and can wheel spin their hind legs at the bottom of the gallop, we always try and go from trot to canter but there’s always that odd horse who wants to jump from the traps. The sand should add to the purchase they get when jumping off.
