Bells On Sunday didn’t turn up at Wetherby, she just ran no race at all. Tommie said she was trying to bite other horses at the start. A mate of mine ran a filly up north last week and it failed to show up too. As bizarre as it may sound for the month of January, she was heavily in season the following day.  I think and hope Bells on Sunday has the same female problem. She came in off the track as bright as a button and walked off as if she didn’t have a care in the world. We have all seen it before and Bells is there for another day.

On the way home Mrs Newell and I popped into Little Lodge Stud to see Bells On Sunday’s half brother, he is heading to Doncaster sales later in the month and was champion foal at Bangor in the summer, being by Kayf Tara he is sure to be one of the busiest lots at the sale. He’s a smasher and will be very well received I’m sure. The tea and crumpets were an added bonus.
