Quiet canters for the horses and it may stay that way looking at the weather forecast, the ground at Newbury was surprisingly quick. I thought Outlawjessejames ran with credit in a decent race and Kateson found the ground on the fast side. Kateson was running a nice race until the pace lifted from three out. Johnbb is there for another day, he doesn’t want deep ground but he doesn’t want it that lively either.

Sebastopol and Kimberlite Candy enjoying a mud spa.

I experienced something I hadn’t done previously today - eating Cottage Pie out of a cardboard box, if your hungry and that is what is on offer who cares what it is in.

Having driven from Herefordshire to Newbury I saw very little evidence of a second lockdown, it would appear that many are not going to follow the rules and this will be a long haul. The chancellor clearly listened to traffic reports before announcing furlough would be extended until March 2021.

Some of you may recall Pokémon George and the doddery old man I found lost in Herefordshire thrown across my railings one afternoon. It is hard to believe he was once a formidable point to point rider.
