Quiet canters for the horses this morning, a few of the fat boys did a little more. It was one of those morning when you go most places with your heart in your mouth, we naturally salt everywhere we can. It is impossible to get everywhere with it and this morning was certainly one for watching where the horses were putting their feet. Many know what they are dealing with, others are oblivious to the danger of icy roads and tracks. There is something quite satisfying knowing that the horses are tucked safely back into their stables after exercise.

Kateson did not let the side down, we are as happy as anyone can be when finishing placed in a competitive handicap on a Saturday around Ascot. He travelled like the winner into the home but propped on landing over the second last which cost him momentum, the mistake may have cost him second place but I’m not sure he would have beaten the winner who carried 12lbs less than Kateson.  It was certainly a great days racing.

I certainly didn’t enjoy watching Buveur D’Air getting beat, after the injury he suffered to get back on the racetrack alone is an achievement in itself. I would have loved to see him winning.

Have a good weekend and wrap up warm if your going outside or living in a house with no roof on it.
